Jayan the ultimate Superstar
It was the time the first super star was born in malayalam film. Actor Jayan with his big muscles,sturdy face,movement of a robot...Oh,no..he was a living god to us at that time,the epitome of humanity,goodness,brave .....
My friend used to keep all his pocket money into a small pot.Every one paise,two paise,5 paise given by his mother were kept in the pot.This money was either used for buying ice candy or for a Jayan film in the nearby village talkies...We were allowed to watch a film with our families during Onam festival every year.If anybody has to watch a film out of turn,he has to find another source of his own.
He was the luckiest and bravest child in our group.His mother always used to give him 1,2,5 paise coins as pocket money.He used to count it very frequantly so that whenver the amount becomes one rupee,we his closest friends will be able to listen to the story of a Jayan film,scene by scene,act by act.......
It was one of those Jayans irresistable film in our nearby talkies...He counted his collection..95 paise all together....in those times getting 5 paise as loan was unthinkable.His mother was not kind enough to give 5 paise more,at that time...'What will happen if you dont see a film?' was the standard phrase of our parents at that time..He was a true follower of the brave actor.He declared us ,he will see the film somehow.The next day,a sunday he went to the theatre very early.He stood beside the ticket window .By the time the ticket seller opened the window,the large group of young restive people was already in a festive mood to see our superstar...My friend gave the money to the ticket seller.He counted the small change and then again counted....How much money you gave me?....One rupee....But it is only 95 paise!!!..Sir,please ocunt again,I gave you 1 rupee..the crowd was becoming more n more restive...uncontrollable...The ticket seller ,the old man does not have an option,but to give a ticket ....
And in the evening we could listen another of our favourite heroes brave act,scene by scene,act by act.....
